One of the greatest challenges facing Christians today is not simply a lack of biblical knowledge, but a lack of sustained time spent with Jesus Himself.

We live in a culture of quick devotions, scattered reading plans, and disconnected verses. While each has value, I wanted to create something that invited believers into something deeper—not merely reading about Jesus, but walking beside Him.

That desire became Life Along the Way, a 365-day devotional journey through the life of Christ.

Rather than reading isolated passages, Life Along the Way follows the Gospels chronologically, weaving together Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John into one continuous story. Each day builds naturally upon the last so that readers experience the unfolding ministry of Jesus as His disciples first experienced it. We travel the dusty roads of Galilee, stand beside the shores of the Sea of Galilee, enter the villages where He taught, witness His miracles, hear His sermons, rejoice with those He healed, grieve with those who suffered, and ultimately journey with Him to the cross and the empty tomb.

The goal is not simply to learn more information.

The goal is to know Jesus more personally.

Discipleship has always been more than acquiring knowledge. Jesus never invited people merely to study Him; He invited them to follow Him. That invitation remains the same today. Spending an entire year immersed in His life allows His words to shape our thinking, His compassion to soften our hearts, His priorities to become our priorities, and His example to redefine how we live every ordinary day.

When believers consistently encounter Jesus day after day, something remarkable begins to happen. Scripture moves from becoming merely familiar to becoming transformational. His conversations become our conversations. His values challenge our assumptions. His grace exposes our pride. His courage strengthens our faith. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, we begin to resemble the One we have spent so much time with.

That has always been my prayer.

Yet I believe the greatest impact occurs when an entire church family walks this journey together.

Imagine hundreds of believers reading the same Gospel account every morning. Families discussing the same miracle around the dinner table. Small groups reflecting on the same teaching. Sunday sermons connecting naturally to what everyone has already been reading throughout the week. Children, teenagers, parents, grandparents, and friends all traveling together through the same story.

The church becomes united around the central figure of our faith—not programs, personalities, preferences, or politics—but Jesus Christ Himself.

Conversations become richer because everyone shares the same spiritual experience. Prayer becomes more focused because hearts are being shaped by the same Scriptures. Fellowship grows deeper because believers are encouraging one another with the same lessons they are learning from the Lord.

This shared journey also reminds us that following Jesus has never been intended as a solitary pursuit. The first disciples walked together, learned together, asked questions together, failed together, and ultimately grew together. The church today is called to do the same.

My hope for every person who opens Life Along the Way is wonderfully simple.

I hope they fall in love with Jesus again.

I hope they discover that His words remain just as life-giving today as when they were first spoken. I hope His miracles remind them that nothing is impossible with God. I hope His encounters with ordinary people reveal that no one is beyond His grace. I hope His compassion teaches them to love more deeply, His courage inspires them to serve more faithfully, and His cross continually reminds them of the immeasurable depth of God’s love.

Most of all, I hope that after spending 365 days walking beside Jesus, readers will not simply know more about Him.

They will know Him more intimately.

And if an entire congregation commits to making that same journey together, I believe God can create something beautiful—a community increasingly united in faith, transformed by grace, and equipped to love Jesus and love like Jesus.

That is the prayer behind Life Along the Way.

It is an invitation to spend a year with the Savior—and to discover that every step with Him changes the journey forever.
